CDC Peer Advisor 2023-2024

This position will work on a team of CDC Peer Advisors. Peer Advisors advise students on career-related topics; facilitate presentations to students on Career Development Center topics, programs, and services; and support the many CDC activities and initiatives.  This position is approximately 8 hours/week starting in A Term 2023, with 2 hours/week training throughout D Term 2023.

Responsibilities:
  • Advise and provide feedback to students in one-on-one drop-ins and appointments.
  • Facilitate presentations on Career Development Topics, such as: Handshake, CDC Resources & Services, Career Fair Prep, Resumes, Job Searching, and more.
  • Assist events by table sitting, serving on panels, checking students in, answering student questions, and with special career fair responsibilities.
  • Maintain awareness, familiarity, and usage of CDC resources, programs, and events.
  • Assist with other programming activities & projects in the Career Development Center.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a current freshman, sophomore, or junior.
  • Awareness and usage of CDC services is strongly preferred.
  • Previous student leadership and peer advising experience a plus.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. 
  • Time available to commit to approximately 2 hours/week for training in D Term 2023.
  • Time available to commit to approximately 8 hours/week, with some evening work to accommodate workshops and events, during the 2023-2024 academic year.
  • Strong communication skills: collaboration with other peer advisors, presentation skills, public speaking, writing skills.
