Supply Chain Manager

June 2018 • Vancouver, WA

What I liked

I am extremely thankful to the resources at the career center. Initially, when I started my job search I was clueless about how to manke my resume imperessive. Being an international student, I was not well accquainted with these essentials. You guys helped me through it! Having good resources to help us out at all times, is the best.

What I wish was different

The resources could also be cross functional, covering all the fields of study. For example, I was helped by a resource who had a degree in Arts. I am a graduate with an engineering background - though I got the required help, there are many students out there, who find it difficlut to mention about the technical details on their resume. Perhaps, if the resources were acquired from across all fields of study, it could make more of a difference.

Advice

"My resume is my story". Every job posting, requires a unique resume which should match the given job description.

In Market Operations Intern

June 2019 • Torrance, CA

What I liked

Pepsico is invested in its future leaders. The exposure I got was unparalleled! I spent time not only at the distribution center I was assigned to, but I also got to spend time at two manufacturing plants in both the Frito Lay and Pepsico division. In addition, I worked with a wide range of professionals from regional safety managers, to operations managers, HR, quality professionals, and even our front line team (sales reps and warehousers.)

What I wish was different

My summer initiative was focused on warehouse picker accuracy on small format routes. Despite the company being extremely fast paced, at times I felt like I was going through the motions due to how specific my project was. I think the scope could have been opened up more. When my supervisors got busy or pulled aside, my duties became repetitive. I believe I could have handled a little more responsibility and workload. I also could have done a better job communicating this.

Advice

Speak up!!! Don't be afraid to ask questions and voice your opinions fearlessly! When you enter the professional work force, your career is what you make of it so own your role and take initiative without being told and you will go far. Also, this experienced taught me the value of front line training. I was anxious to hit the ground running -- learning software programs and driving results from day 1, but looking back, I didn't realize at the time how much I was picking up from the front line team (warehousers and RSR's) who are the first line of defense to our consumers. There's value in learning the business from the ground up. Especially at a place as massive as Pepsico.
