PepsiCo

Supply Chain Intern

July - August 2020 • White Plains, NY

What I liked

PepsiCo is the most amazing company to work for. They made the remote experience incredible.

What I wish was different

I wish it would have been a longer internship, but there was a global pandemic going on so there wasn't much anyone could do about that.

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2019 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

-Living in Orange County for the summer was amazing, especially considering the great compensation this internship offers. -Project that impacts the business. After this internship, my resume is now full of amazing accomplishments. -Supportive management

What I wish was different

Although i enjoyed the autonomy of the internship, it would have been nice to have had a little more guidance from my managers. No one will hold your hand, the onus is on you to own your experience and ask for help early and often.

Advice

The summer will go by extremely quick, so it is imperative that you start on your project immediately. Starting early ensures that your results will be meaningful which will help during your final presentation.

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2019 • Grand Rapids, MI

What I liked

It was a very fun job that pushed me out of my comfort zone. Met amazing leaders and was very easy to network with people at higher levels of the company. I was able to meet the President of Frito Lay and have lunch with him during the end of summer intern report out in Dallas, TX. I was given a sign-on bonus and a laptop and iPad for doing work on. Attended a lot of company events and did intern orientation in Clevland. Really fun, developmental and empowering experience.

What I wish was different

Very Autonomous job so sometimes you have nothing to do and sometimes you don't know what to do. A lot of driving. Sometimes had to visit stores in sketchy locations.

Advice

If you do not want a challenge then this is not for you. You will be working on your own on a real company issue. There will be guidance along the way but they really empower you to make your own decisions. If you like structure and every day to be the same then this internship will put you out of your comfort zone.

Supply Chain Intern

June - August 2021 • Sacramento, CA

What I liked

I really enjoyed that you got to lead your own project. You got what I would say was a problem statement and had to go figure out the pieces, come up with a solution, and then implement that solution. This was scary at first but I found it really improved every single soft skill that you might be looking to develop through an internship.

What I wish was different

I wish that there was more exposure to the company outside of the plant. Of course the position was supply chain, but getting experience in what a marketing intern was doing, or how the transportation department was handling ongoing logistical issues would have been interesting.

Advice

Do not be scared about having little guidance. While it is on you to reach out for support, there was not a single person who was not willing to talk, even the CEO.

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2019 • Alameda, CA

What I liked

My role allowed for a high degree of autonomy and it was very interesting to see how a Fortune 50 company works! Additionally, I got a ton of hands on experience to further my career.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to network and build relationships around my building.

Advice

Don't be afraid to get started on your project! Ask your manager to allow you to start going to stores on your own. Also, do not be afraid to ask for help.

Sales Management Intern

May - August 2019 • Rochester, NY

What I liked

My favorite part of the job was the people I met along the way. My managers and supervisors were nothing but supportive of me throughout my internship. They provided me with the critical feedback in needed to grow professionally and learn on the job. Also, being it was a sales job, I was able to connect with multiple store managers along the way working on my final project. For my project, I was assigned to a bunch of different stores and was tasked with attempting to increase revenue over a three week period. I loved this part of the job, and also believed presenting this at corporate headquarters in White Plains, NY was awesome.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had a longer project duration. Since it was only 3 weeks long, I did not have a big enough sample size of data to use in my projects. However I understand that I needed to see the front line of the business before they threw me out into the field.

Advice

Be a sponge. I did very well in my role because I listened and took notes whenever I worked with someone new. I got to experience what goes into every aspect of sales at Pepsi, and consumed as much as I could.

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2019 • Chesapeake, VA

What I liked

I liked that interns had the capability to work with their mentor to develop their intern project into something that the intern was passionate about and could have a real impact on the company as a whole.

What I wish was different

I definitely wish I knew more about the area that I interned. I was the only intern in the office which was difficult, and also did not know much about the different stores I was required to visit. I definitely had a concern for safety in some of the store visits.

Advice

Be open to trying new things and learning about sales in different types of store formats.

Sales District Lead

June - August 2019 • St. Louis, MO

What I liked

I liked the team effort and communication with my manager at all times. Pepsi really made sure we always had someone to shadow, and a project to work on. I really felt my needs were met out of the organization, and challenges were consistently made apparent.

What I wish was different

I wish I would've had more time with my fellow interns. It was a very small class and I was mostly by myself majority of the time. I know that team effort is important, so I would like to be a part of a team more.

Advice

I would say you really have to be your own boss. Take the initiative and reach out to higher-ups yourself. This will help your overall experience for the company as a whole.

Sales Management Intern

May - August 2019 • Orlando, FL

What I liked

I got to do a lot of independent work throughout the summer as I worked on an individual summer project. It gave me a lot of real world experience and what it would be like working for a giant corporation.

What I wish was different

I truly didn't take the internship as seriously as I should've. I got placed into a job role that I originally didn't apply for and it made me lack motivation in doing the job because I wasn't very passionate about it. At the end of the day, I should've put in a little more work and tried to gain more knowledge to have enjoyed my time more.

Advice

Take the time in your internship to gather as much knowledge and experience as possible, network your heart out with the big heads in the company you're interning for; even if it isn't a company you see yourself working in after the internship, it's good to leave with experience and good contacts.

What I liked

There was a large group of interns and we quickly became like a class and supported each other with our projects which allowed us to learn about all different departments and opportunities.

What I wish was different

Advice

Go out to the floor as much as possible. That is where the magic all happens and all the knowledge is. Ask as many questions to as many people as possible.

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2019 • Cranston, RI

What I liked

I absolutely loved my experience at Frito Lay this past summer. I was a part of an amazing team who were very willing to help me succeed. I learned so much about all aspects of Frito Lay's business from production to the delivery of products to the shelves for our customers.

What I wish was different

I do not have anything that I would change.

Advice

I definitely was not as smart as the other follow intern at my location, but I showed more passion and desire to learn. I also showed up to everyday and worked my hardest my hardest. You do not have to be the smartest in the room, but you must work to the best of your abilities!

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2019 • Buffalo, NY

What I liked

I liked the independence of being in the sales field and working with customers. PepsiCo really treats their employees and interns with so much respect and generosity. I met so many great people who helped me develop professionally and are now mentors of mine!

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have seen less of the field sales and more of the management side. I spent a lot of time helping the Buffalo team stay on top of merchandising orders, which was very physical and repetitive.

Advice

Be prepared to work hard! This internship is challenging but very rewarding. They push you outside your comfort zone!

Supply Chain Accounting Intern

June - August 2019 • Cedar Rapids, IA

What I liked

I liked how welcoming the finance team was. I enjoyed the analytical and hands on experience I got from working in a manufacturing plant. Additionally, I was able to work within multiple cross functioning teams to get to a solution that ultimately saved the company hundreds of thousands of dollars.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have gotten more expletive on the day to day tasks. I was given multiple projects which was great, but I wanted to know what a normal day would look as an employee.

Advice

Stay driven, don’t be afraid to fail, and don’t be afraid to ask questions, after you tried first

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2019 • Denver, CO

What I liked

PepsiCo provided me with a huge amount of autonomy. Which meant that I was able to be creative, and try new things on my own. It was a very active job. I spent very little time sitting at a desk, I was given my own accounts and my own goals. Tough but challenging in the best way.

What I wish was different

You must have a car for this internship, while this was not a problem for me, it would have been nice to know in advance.

Advice

Go into it with an open mind, and be willing to try new things and get new experiences. Don't expect a cushy desk job.

Sales Management Intern

May - August 2019 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

Gave me good insight as to what the day to day life of a Sales Manager is and what trials they go through on a daily basis. It kept me on my feet, every day was a new challenge and that made every day exciting. I loved my team I worked with as well as very good people who wanted me to succeed.

What I wish was different

Communication before the internship would have been nice. Their communication seemed kind of all over the place but once I got there, there was no issue.

Advice

Be ready to work! Hard job with long hours, if you are willing to work you can succeed.
